There is much speculation about possibility of past lives. Some think they are an ancestral tie, others believe we've actually lived before . . . .So . . . Have you lived before? Do you have spiritual or genetic ties to your ancestors? A past life that is your own is based upon the theory of reincarnation. Reincarnation means that the soul does not die with the body but rather moves onto another realm where, after a period of time, it is then reborn. This rebirth is by choice. The earthly realm is a place to learn, improve upon and correct ourselves so we can eventually cross over to what we understand to be Heaven or the Other World to learn more lessons for the purpose of evolving. It is said by those who believe in past lives that we cannot attain spiritual perfection in one life so many cycles are required on the earthly plane. Each time we are born, we develop a new personality but the soul is the same. Hence, old soul. It is like changing your clothes. We are born supposedly born into different periods of history, cultures and even the opposite sex! This is for the purpose of meeting many challenges with the explicit goal of eventually achieving soul perfection. Once perfected the soul moves onto a higher plane of existence. The reason I don't state these things with certainty is because I'm one of the few spiritual counselors who disbelieves in reincarnation. I am not leery of past lives in the sense that I truly believe we have soul and ancestral connections to many people from many time periods.
